Assessments
Request a database assessment
Tell us what needs looking at and what decision is waiting on the answer. A senior consultant scopes the assessment with you before anything is quoted, and nothing in the environment is changed while it runs.
Tell us what needs looking at
The more you can say about the environment, the more useful the first reply is: which platforms you run, roughly how many instances, whether they sit on premises or in cloud, and what decision is waiting on the answer. None of it has to be precise.
Before you send it
Which assessment to ask for
You do not have to know. Describe what is happening and what decision is waiting on it, and the consultant who reads it will say which of the four answers the question, or that none of them does and something else would.
What moves it fastest is the shape of the environment: which platforms, roughly how many instances, on premises or in cloud or both, and whether any of it is sitting under an audit, a renewal, or a deadline that is already set.
All four are fixed in scope and read-only, and all four produce a written report rather than a verbal debrief. See what every assessment has in common.
- Database health checkThe broad diagnostic. Performance, security, availability, cost, and scalability in one engagement. What it covers.
- AI readinessWhether the data foundation can carry an AI initiative. Check AI readiness.
- Cloud readinessWhat should move, what should be rebuilt, and what it will cost. See the cloud assessment.
- Database securityAccess, encryption, auditing, and the controls a compliance review will ask for. See the security assessment.
What happens after you send this
- A reply within two business daysFrom somebody who has read the detail you gave, rather than an acknowledgment that it arrived. If a production system is down right now, On-Call DBA is the faster route.
- A conversation about scopeThe environment, the questions the assessment has to answer, and the decision waiting on them. That is what establishes which of the four fits and what it has to cover.
- Scope and price agreed before anything startsThere is no list price. Each assessment is scoped to the number of instances, the platforms involved, and whether they run on premises, in cloud, or both.
- A written report at the endSeverity-rated findings with a root cause for each, effort and projected return attached, and a roadmap separated into immediate actions, short-term initiatives, and long-term strategy.
Rather not use a form?
Pick a time with a consultant directly, or use the general contact route if the question turns out not to be about an assessment.
Both routes reach the same team.
Before you ask
What do I need to have ready to request a database assessment?
Nothing prepared. Fortified Data scopes an assessment from a description of the environment: which database platforms are running, roughly how many instances, whether they sit on premises, in cloud, or both, and what question the assessment has to answer. Inventory documents, monitoring exports, and access come later, once the scope is agreed.
Which Fortified Data assessment should I request?
Fortified Data runs four: a database health check covering performance, security, availability, cost, and scalability together; an AI readiness assessment; a cloud readiness assessment; and a database security assessment. Where the problem is not yet a category, the health check is the broad one, and a request that describes the symptom is enough for a consultant to say which engagement answers it.
Does a Fortified Data assessment change anything in my environment?
No. Every Fortified Data assessment is read-only. Configuration, performance, and security controls are recorded as they are and nothing is altered, which is what lets an assessment run against production without a change window.
Can one assessment cover more than one database platform?
Yes. Fortified Data assesses Microsoft SQL Server, Azure SQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MySQL, on premises and in AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud, and reports a mixed estate in a single document rather than splitting it across separate platform reviews.
Should I request an assessment or contact Fortified Data?
Both reach the same team. Requesting an assessment is the faster route when you already know you want an environment examined, because the scoping conversation starts from the platforms and the question rather than from the introduction. Contact Fortified Data for anything else, including managed services, consulting projects, and partner enquiries.
