With SQL Server 2025, Microsoft consolidated on-premises reporting under Power BI Report Server. SQL Server Reporting Services is now frozen at the 2022 release, with no further versions planned. The platform many organizations have relied on since 2004 has a defined endpoint to its development.
The reassuring part is the timeline. SSRS 2022 remains supported through January 2033 and can run against the newer SQL Server 2025 engine. You have years of runway. What you no longer have is a reporting platform that will keep moving forward.
